The 'Eat' Bit...

So a bit more about the 'Eat' bit of this blog!
I LOVE to cook.  I'm no Jamie Oliver but i'm always happy pottering around in the kitchen, something both my sisters and I have inherited from our parents.
Mum always wanted to be a chef but that wasn't quite what my grandparents had in mind and so she went to college to learn typing instead.  My childhood was filled with weekends spent baking (and eating) jam tarts, cheese and onion pasties and all manner of cakes with Mum.  Dad's idea of cooking was slightly different and I remember him adding a bit of whatever was in the cupboard to our meals to some...interesting...results.  But at least he cooked I guess which even then was not exactly a common occurance!
Lately I have been getting into baking a bit more, much to the delight of my Husband, Daughter and work mates and have been testing cake and cookie recipes which I am hoping to share with you.
I will be adding links on the right to all of my favourite cooking websites so that you can visit and be as inspired as I am by them.

The Second Step...

So my friend Kerry and I joined the Chippenham Harriers 9 week Beginner Course to see how we got on.  The Beginners Course was split in to three abilities, the Improver Group which was aimed at current runners or people returning to running, the Beginner Group aimed at...well complete beginners...strangely, and the Intermediate Group which is somewhere in between.
Kerry and I headed for the Beginner (or 'Special' group as our leader Steve liked to call us!) and started off on our repetitive jogging and walking session across the school field. Week 1 down and not too horrific we decided to go back for a second helping.

In the beginning...

I was finding it hard to shift weight. My daughter E was two years old and I still had a stone (ahem!) to lose and it was going nowhere fast. To be honest I wasn't really trying that hard but I was starting to feel very unhappy with my jelly belly and bingo wings and decided that it was high time I sorted myself out. Then I ate a cream cake to make myself feel better.
A couple of people at work started running at lunch time and my friend Marc decided I should come too. After a couple of outings I found that I actually quite enjoyed it, my mood was improving and s-l-o-w-l-y the weight was starting to come off, then I heard about a 9 week beginners running course run by our local Harriers and thought i'd give it a whirl.
